OK, so the 77' project has taken parts from 4 different trucks so far. And since we will have a ton of extra parts left over that won't be needed for the highboy, we are going to fix up the 79' F-250 4x4 that we just bought. Here's what needs to be done to the 79' 4x4:

-remove the Dana 60 front axle, and replace it with the Dana 44 from the Highboy

-remove the plow mounts and lights

-toss the rusty pickup box, and build a flatbed

-remove the 351m

-install the 460 from the 79' F-150, and the carb and radiator from the 74' Camper Special

-keep the NP435 transmission, whatever transfer case it comes with, and the stock driveshafts

-remove the grille, and use the better grille from the 79' F-150, and use the front bumper from the highboy

-use the stock tires and wheels from the 66' F-250

-use the old bench seat out of the Highboy

-glass and rubber is fine

-clean a few things up, hook up the brakes to the new axle

Things we'll try to sell: two 351m engines, two radiators, Ford 9" rear axle...No rush on this truck at all, just when we have some spare time. I'll post a few pics if we get a chance to swap some things on it...

Got another parts truck so the 79' flatbed project can keep its Dana 60 front axle:

Had it delivered from Mora yesterday:

And here it is today after I removed the front clip...By next weekend, this truck will be completely taken apart so we can sell the parts we won't need:

hmmm...the 400m isn't starting very well in this new truck, time to rip the cab off to get better access to the engine.

We're gonna sell this engine along with the spare 460 thunderjet we got from the F-150, and all the transmissions that we don't need. Also the body parts from this truck...

We probably will be picking up a 72' 4-barrel 429 thunderjet V8 this weekend to put in the Highboy before the 521 goes in, and eventually the 429 will replace the 351m in the 79' flatbed project, then we can get rid of the 351m.

Oh no, a truck that might be staying on schedule. lol

Since I lost a socket off the impact in the cab trying to loosen the cab mount bolt, I was forced to take out the gas tank (not sure why it had a gas tank in the cab anyway) and the seat. Sounds simple, but with these 70s Fords, everything is in the way of the bolts, so everything is hard to reach, and normally needs to be wrenched out by hand (as long as the threads aren't rusted solid). Very tiring and frustrating, by the end, I had to reach for a BFH to persuade the tank to exit the cab. After all the demolition, I still had to remove like 10 pounds of mouse $hi+, grease, and dead bugs from the floor.

So now I can get to the cab mount a lot easier, and if we get time, we'll pull the cab off tomorrow. Looks like the truck will be on time to chop it up by this weekend.

The only good thing about this ugly little copper truck is that even though the floor pans are completely rusted, and the doors are a little rough on the outside, at least it is all metal, and hasn't been messed with (no body filler, foam, duct tape, or other homemade BS)...

We still need to find the time to put the "El Cheapo" hoist on wheels so we can move it around easier.:bang:

Here's the Dana 60 front axle out of the truck:

And here's the frame cut in half:

The truck is chopped up, heading down to the Cities tomorrow to pick up the 429 thunderjet engine.
