Sorry it took so long to get this out.
The ride was one of the best yet. We had 54 machines and about 65 people. There are more and more side by side and 2 ups showing up.
The day started out with a great 7:30 am breakfast buffet of bacon, egg omelet, hash browns, pancakes, coffee (lots of coffee) and a little frost. After a short riders meeting to let everyone know where we were going, we were off to an on time start of 9:00am.
The morning frost kept the road dust to nil (not so for the return trip). The first 6 miles or so were down a couple of side roads, then we went into the bush on the snowmobile trail. By noon, it warmed up nicely and everyone was pealing off their heavy clothes and found it comfortable with tee shirts.
The trip included a mixture of a few side roads (dusty in the afternoon), some nice colourful leaf strewn trails, plenty of shallow and deep mud, rock picking, log climbing, water crossings and everything in between.
There were a couple of hunters that looked discouraged as they stood with their coffees watching 54 machines rumble through the middle of their camp (built right on the trail). I think that they just went back to bed!
There were a couple of mechanical issues including overheating machines, a brand new North Country RZR with a 1 inch stick through a front tire, and a few broken winches and cables. Only the RZR didn't make the whole trip. I hate when that happens!!!
There was one mud hole that claimed a few machines - hence the broken winches and cables. There was a well travelled by-pass that was just the ticket for us old guys. It was quite a show as the younger generation with their snorkelled machines challenged Mother Nature's best. Ohh to be young again!
The whole trip was about 100 km (61 miles) and the first machines started to return about 3:30. One tank of gas was lots for everyone.
On returning, we enjoyed cold beverages on the deck, and a fine meal of 'fall off the bone' ribs, bass, perch, pickerel, smelt, burgers and whatever else you could want.
A great big thank you to Shelly at Silver Mountain Station for the hospitality, great food and parking.
Thank you to Bob (750brute) for helping get the trail planned out and leading us.
I am trying to attach some photos, I hope it works. If not, I will try on a separate post.
Thanks to nostuck500xt for all the photos.
