WINONA, Minn. (AP) - A 50-year-old Winona man is in custody at a Rochester hospital after he allegedly holed himself up in his bathroom, ripped the toilet from the floor, then used the commode to threaten police.
Documents released Tuesday say the man was covered in cuts and wielding the toilet over his head when officers broke into his bathroom Sunday night. Police say water was spraying from broken plumbing.
The Winona Daily News reports the man locked himself in the bathroom with a knife and yelled "I'm going to stab you," just hours after being released from a Winona hospital - where he was taken earlier Sunday on a mental health hold after he stopped taking his medication. The county attorney's office is considering possible charges of domestic assault, terroristic threats and other counts.
